Aslyn Unleashed!

It's hard to believe that it has almost been two weeks since we've last updated, but here we are rapidly approaching week #7. As noted in the title, Aslyn finally lost her umbilical cord during these last two weeks. We were beginning to wonder if it would ever fall off, and then one day it just magically fell off as if it hadn't ever been stubbornly attached. At this point, it appears as if she will have an "innie," much to the liking of her mom and dad. =)

Aslyn has begun to see things more clearly and to enjoy watching her mobiles more and more. She will even follow the ducks on her swing as far as her peripheral vision will allow before turning her head to catch the next one coming around. We also installed a mobile in her crib with a momma bird and two baby birds that fly in circles and chirp. Also a big hit.

We also got out the gym for her to play with. It has a mirror and several "bugs" that hang down, with a large butterfly in the middle that plays music if you hit it with your hands.

We're not quite sure that she knows what she's doing, but she has learned to make swatting movements with her arms that sometimes happens to connect with the butterfly and set it off. =) As you can see from the photo, it startles and surprises her when it makes noise!

As for firsts, she had her first outing to the mall food court, first trip to a home improvement store, and was officially sat on by the dog for the first time. The last "first" didn't go over so well! Shame on you Peanut!! We know she takes up lap space but you can't sit on her!!!

You computer geeks out there will appreciated the early training our daughter is getting with her dad...
And finally, last but not least. Yes, she does sleep. Occasionally.

And now for a few of the Candids...
